Moskee Othman

Moskee Othman in Rotterdam takes its name from Uthman ibn Affan radiallahu anhu, the third of the four rightly guided caliphs who led the Muslim ummah after the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alihi wa sallam. Uthman, a companion renowned for his modesty, generosity, and devotion, was the son in law of the Prophet twice over, having married two of his daughters Ruqayyah and then Umm Kulthum radiallahu anhuma, earning him the epithet Dhu al Nurayn, the Possessor of the Two Lights. His caliphate oversaw the expansion of Muslim territories across North Africa, Persia, and the Caucasus, and his wealthy generosity funded the Muslim army at the battle of Tabuk and the expansion of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah.
