关于

Within the sacred city of Karbala in the Holy Karbala governorate of Iraq, the Mosque of the Two Jawad Imams, peace be upon them, occupies a place of deep reverence within a landscape of pilgrimage whose every street echoes the names of the family of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. The name al Jawadayn refers to Muhammad al Jawad and his father Ali al Rida, peace be upon them, two luminous figures whose teachings on theology, ethics and jurisprudence form a treasured legacy. Karbala's position as a centre of devotion stems from the events of 680 CE when al Husayn ibn Ali, may God be pleased with him, was martyred alongside his companions, a sacrifice commemorated each year during Ashura and Arbain by millions of pilgrims whose walks from Najaf and other cities make Karbala one of the most visited holy places on earth. The mosque itself is a classical Iraqi construction with a turquoise tiled dome, twin minarets bearing calligraphic panels of Qur'anic verses, an outer courtyard of polished stone bordered by arched iwans, and an inner prayer hall whose mihrab is framed by mirror mosaic and silver work crafted in local workshops. Daily prayers draw residents and pilgrims, with Jumu'ah gatherings fuller still, while the months of Muharram and Safar see the mosque overflowing as commemorations of the Ahl al Bayt reach their climax. Ramadan brings iftar tables laid along the forecourt, tarawih prayers led by visiting reciters and dense gatherings through laylat al Qadr. Eid mornings see the courtyard thronged with families. Visitors should dress modestly and observe the solemn rhythm of pilgrimage. Nearby landmarks include the shrines of Imam al Husayn and Abbas ibn Ali, may God be pleased with them both, and the old Karbala market. The Karbala pilgrimage tradition known as ziyarat weaves through the city's streets from early morning until late at night, with the Mosque of the Two Jawad Imams, peace be upon them, receiving a constant flow of reciters reading the supplications known as the Jawshan al Kabir and the Ziyarat Ashura. Free provisions of dates, saffron rice, kibbeh and sweet sherbet are distributed through the mawakib of devoted volunteers, a tradition of public generosity that gives Karbala its unforgettable spiritual atmosphere during Muharram, Safar and the months of Ramadan and Hajj.
