Tentang

Within the vast metropolis of Karachi in Sindh Province of Pakistan, the mazar of Sheikh Kamaluddin Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani draws visitors who come to offer prayers and supplications near the resting place of a respected descendant of one of the most beloved saints of the Muslim world. The name Abdul Qadir Gilani recalls the great twelfth century scholar and spiritual master Sheikh Abd al Qadir al Jilani, may God have mercy on him, whose teachings on repentance, sincerity, and love of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, have inspired millions of believers from Baghdad to Lahore, from Sarajevo to Sokoto.

South Asia has a particular attachment to the Gilani lineage, many of whose descendants carry the honoured title of Sayyid and have served as teachers, judges, and spiritual guides across the subcontinent. Sheikh Kamaluddin Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani is remembered locally in Karachi as a figure whose piety and learning contributed to the religious life of the city during its modern growth. Karachi itself rose from a modest fishing and trading settlement to become the largest city in Pakistan and the capital of Sindh, a vibrant commercial hub where people from every province and many other countries live and work.

The mazar complex includes the tomb chamber itself, a prayer hall used for the five daily prayers and for collective recitation of the Qur'an, a courtyard where visitors may rest and offer supplications, and small rooms where food is prepared and distributed in charity, following the classical South Asian custom of langar offered at the shrines of the pious. Banners of green and white, the colours beloved of tradition and of the Pakistani flag, flutter above the entrance, and readers of the poetry of Gilani and other masters gather on special nights.

Accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the mazar of Sheikh Kamaluddin Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani in Karachi are provided on this page, together with its address, a location map, and notes that assist Karachi residents, visitors from Lahore and Islamabad, pilgrims travelling to visit saintly tombs across Pakistan, and relatives coming from the Gulf countries and beyond, to attend worship here and to offer their own prayers and salutations in the peaceful atmosphere that has surrounded this place of remembrance for many respectful generations.
