Mazar Sharif Hazrat Qibla Sufi Miyan Majid Ali Hasani

In a quiet Karachi lane shaded by neem trees, the Mazar Sharif of Hazrat Qibla Mian Majid Ali Hasani welcomes those who come to remember a respected teacher whose descendants continue to guide his spiritual circle. The term mazar sharif designates a noble shrine or tomb, and Hazrat and Qibla are honorifics of deep affection used in Urdu and Sindhi for a beloved shaykh. The Hasani lineage indicates a chain of descent traced through Imam Hasan ibn Ali, may God be pleased with him, the elder grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, an honour cherished in the subcontinental tradition of sayyid scholarly families.

Karachi has long been a meeting point of the classical Indian spiritual paths, with visitors from Sindh, Punjab, Gujarat, and further afield gathering at the shrines of scholars whose teachings shaped generations of devotion. Community kitchens distribute free meals to the needy, and Thursday night gatherings fill the courtyard with the cadence of naats and milad in honour of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, weaving the shrine into the daily spiritual life of Karachi.
