Tentang

Rooted deep in the bustling neighbourhoods of Karachi, the capital of Sindh and the largest city of Pakistan, Jamia Masjid o Imam Bargah Noor e Iman offers a space where daily prayers and commemorative gatherings unfold side by side. The name combines Jamia Masjid, the congregational mosque, with Imam Bargah, a hall where the noble household of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, is remembered. Noor e Iman means the light of faith, a title drawn from the Qur'anic image of divine light that guides every believing heart.

Sindh welcomed Islam in the year 711, when the young commander Muhammad bin Qasim arrived at Debal near the Indus delta. The province has since produced celebrated scholars, saints, and poets, among them Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, whose Sindhi verses on love and longing for the Beloved are sung to this day. Karachi itself grew from a small fishing village into a vast port city during the nineteenth century, welcoming families from every region of the subcontinent who built mosques and imambargahs in neighbourhoods now bearing the names of their ancestral districts.

Architecturally the complex follows the modern Pakistani taste. White rendered walls, green calligraphic bands citing the names of the ahl al bayt, tall arched windows, a central dome, and slim minarets rise above busy streets of shops, tea stalls, and motorbike rickshaws. Inside, soft red carpets cover the floor of the prayer hall, while a separate majlis hall hosts gatherings during the months of Muharram and Safar, when elegies are recited for the tragedy of Karbala.

Current daily prayer timings for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at Jamia Masjid o Imam Bargah Noor e Iman are listed on this page along with the Karachi address, a map pin, and helpful tips for any visitor travelling from Saddar, Clifton, or the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi on the Arabian Sea coast. During Ramadan the courtyard fills with tables of pakoras, samosas, sweet rooh afza, and steaming biryani shared freely among neighbours, while tarawih nights draw families from every nearby gali. Guests passing through Karachi between the mausoleum of Quaid i Azam and the sea front at Sea View are welcome to pray, to rest briefly in the cool hall, and to send blessings upon the Prophet and his pure family as the city's evening traffic hums softly beyond the courtyard walls.
