Surau Al - Hidayah

Surau Al-Hidayah in Johor Bahru carries a name that is among the most common for suraus across Malaysia — Al-Hidayah meaning "the guidance," referring to the divine light that Allah grants to those whom He chooses. Multiple suraus may share this name across the Malaysian landscape, each serving its own neighbourhood, each a small but essential node in the network of daily worship that sustains Muslim life in the country. This particular Surau Al-Hidayah in Johor Bahru serves its immediate community with daily prayers, weekend Qur'an classes, occasional ceramah, and the full programme of seasonal religious activity. The building is modest, as suraus typically are, with a single hall for prayer, a small women's section, wudu facilities, and a verandah where the community gathers before and after salah. Daily prayers bring together the regulars of the kariah — retirees who make every prayer, working adults who come when their schedules allow, students who pass through on their way home, families who arrive together for Maghrib after the evening's errands.
