Tentang

Masjid Jamek Taman Pelangi is a neighbourhood jamek mosque in the Taman Pelangi residential area of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Taman Pelangi — the "rainbow garden" — is one of the older established suburban developments of Johor Bahru, home to a mix of long-settled families and newer residents. The mosque is authorised to host the Friday congregational prayer, and the weekly jumu'ah is the principal gathering of the surrounding community. The building reflects the Malaysian mosque aesthetic appropriate to a suburban masjid — a central dome, a minaret, a wide courtyard for overflow congregations and community events, a substantial prayer hall with carpet, mihrab, and minbar, and a women's section with its own entrance and facilities. The imam is a respected figure in the community, leading the daily prayers, delivering the Friday khutbah, officiating at the significant life events of the kariah — nikah, aqiqah, janazah — and serving as a resource for religious guidance. The mosque committee runs the building and its programmes, including weekend Qur'an classes for children, a tahfiz programme, women's halaqat, and seasonal intensification around Ramadan and the two Eids. The kelas mengaji draws children from across the surrounding neighbourhoods, and the mosque's tahfiz programme, while smaller than those of the larger state mosques, still produces huffaz who go on to further Islamic study or to leadership positions in their own communities later in life. During Ramadan, the mosque is the centre of community life, with taraweeh every night, communal iftar meals, a programme of ceramah and tafsir sessions, and the particular intensification of the last ten nights. The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said that the seven people whom Allah will shade on the Day of Judgement include the one whose heart is attached to the mosque, and the regular attendees of Masjid Jamek Taman Pelangi quietly pursue that attachment through the faithful consistency of their daily worship. One of the old residents once noted that if you stood in the courtyard at Maghrib and listened carefully, you could hear the adhan from three different mosques reaching you from three different directions, a small audible proof of how densely Muslim life is woven into this city.
