Tentang

Masjid Al Mizan in Johor Bahru carries a name of considerable Qur'anic weight — Al-Mizan, "the balance" or "the scale" — which in Islamic theology refers to the divine measure by which human deeds will be weighed on the Day of Judgement, and which in Qur'anic revelation is explicitly connected to the balance that Allah established in the heavens and the earth. The name also appears as the title of the fifty-fifth sura of the Qur'an, Ar-Rahman, where the theme of divine balance is developed in beautiful rhythmic verses. A mosque named Al-Mizan invites worshippers to reflect on justice, measure, and the ultimate accountability of every soul before Allah. The mosque serves its kariah in Johor Bahru with the full range of Malaysian mosque services. The building reflects the Malaysian mosque aesthetic, with a central dome, a minaret, a wide courtyard, a well-appointed prayer hall, and a separate women's section. The imam is a respected figure in the community, leading the daily prayers, delivering Friday khutbahs that often touch on themes of justice, balance, and Islamic ethics given the mosque's name, and officiating at the life events of the community. The mosque committee handles the practical affairs and organises the community's religious and charitable activities. Children attend kelas mengaji in the afternoons, learning Arabic, Qur'an recitation, and Islamic basics from volunteer teachers, with older students progressing to tahfiz or tajweed programmes. Women's programming includes weekly halaqat, monthly tahlil gatherings, and substantial involvement in Ramadan iftar arrangements. During Ramadan, the mosque is the centre of community life, with taraweeh every night, communal iftar, a programme of tausiyah and tafsir sessions, and the particular spiritual focus of the final ten nights. The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said that two words are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, beloved to the Most Merciful — subhanallah wa bihamdihi, subhanallah al-azim. Masjid Al Mizan, with its name evoking that heavenly scale, quietly encourages its worshippers to accumulate weight on the right side of the balance through their prayers, their charitable acts, and their consistent dhikr across the years of their lives.
