Honouring one of the most precious of the early companions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, Masjid Mus'ab ibn Umayr stands in the Qatari capital of Doha as a living memorial to the first teacher of Islam sent outside Makkah. Mus'ab ibn Umayr (may God be pleased with him) was a young man of beauty, refinement, and noble lineage who embraced Islam in the early years of the mission and endured hardship at the hands of his own family before emigrating to Madinah as the Prophet's envoy, teaching the Ansar the Qur'an and the basics of the faith and preparing the city for the blessed Hijrah. He fell as a martyr at the battle of Uhud in the third year after the Hijrah.
Doha itself emerged from a modest pearling village in the nineteenth century into one of the wealthiest capitals in the world during the oil and gas era of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. Throughout that transformation, Qatari families retained their deep attachment to the tradition of waqf, endowing neighbourhood mosques to ensure that every resident enjoyed access to congregational prayer within walking distance. Dedicating a Doha mosque to Mus'ab ibn Umayr plants the memory of the first Muslim envoy and teacher at the heart of daily life, reminding every young worshipper that knowledge, courage, and sacrifice for the sake of God remain the highest Muslim ideals.
Architecturally the masjid follows contemporary Qatari design. A pale sandy facade lifts into a ribbed minaret, arched windows frame the prayer hall, and a central dome crowns the main space. Inside, patterned carpets in soft greens and golds cover the floor, the mihrab carries elegant Qur'anic calligraphy by local artisans, and powerful air conditioning tempers the long Gulf summer. A separate section for women welcomes sisters to pray, and a small library offers copies of the Qur'an in Arabic, English, Urdu, and Tagalog, reflecting the diverse population of the Qatari capital. Friday sermons address themes of sincerity, service, and dedication to the wider ummah. Daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at this Doha masjid appear on this page for every resident and visitor.
