Serving the village of Dayr Yusuf in the northern Jordanian governorate of Irbid, Masjid Al Ulayyan Marwan al Umari honours a founding family whose generosity built the mosque for the benefit of the surrounding community. Irbid governorate lies in the fertile hills of northern Jordan, a landscape of olive groves, wheat fields, and villages whose roots stretch deep into Bronze and Iron Age history and whose Islamic identity was established in the earliest centuries of the faith. The town of Irbid itself is known today as a major academic centre with several universities, while the surrounding villages preserve traditional stone architecture and close family ties that echo the ancient Bilad al Sham pattern of life.

Naming a mosque after the Al Ulayyan family and Marwan al Umari, combining a lineage name with the name of an individual donor, is a long standing northern Jordanian custom that preserves the memory of those whose gifts made community worship possible. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught his Companions, may God be pleased with them, that the best of people are those most useful to others, and that charity continues to benefit the giver long after death. Every Jordanian village masjid bearing the name of a founding family quietly renews that teaching for new generations.

Architecturally, the mosque follows the Levantine Jordanian tradition. Pale dressed stone walls, a modest minaret with a short conical cap, rounded arched windows, and a carpeted prayer hall with a tiled mihrab face the qiblah. A carved wooden minbar stands nearby, and a small courtyard with a fountain provides shaded space for ablution and conversation between prayers. Women pray in a separate section at the rear, and a small madrasa wing teaches children to recite the Qur'an each afternoon.

Farmers from the olive groves, shopkeepers from the village streets, teachers from the local schools, and students commuting to Irbid's universities gather here for the five daily prayers and for Jumu'ah, and during Ramadan the taraweeh prayers fill the hall with the voices of the village's own young huffaz. On this page visitors to northern Jordan will find the current prayer times, address, and helpful notes to enable every traveller, pilgrim, relative of the Al Ulayyan and Umari families, or passing guest to locate this dignified Jordanian masjid and share quietly in its warm, steady, and deeply rooted congregational life amid the olive scented air of Irbid's green hills all year round.
