Rising above the small city of Argun in the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation, the Mosque of Aymani Hajji Kadyrova carries the name of the mother of the Chechen head of state, herself known locally for her charitable initiatives. Chechnya occupies the rugged north eastern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains, a land whose Muslim identity was forged through centuries of devotion passed down among mountain aul villages. The great Daghestani imam Shamil, whose nineteenth century resistance is remembered across the Caucasus, studied under teachers whose lineages still resonate in the mosques of Grozny, Shali, Gudermes, and Argun today.

Argun is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements of Chechnya, sitting along the Argun River a short distance east of Grozny. The city suffered severe damage during the conflicts of the 1990s and early 2000s, but has since been largely rebuilt, with new schools, hospitals, and mosques raised along broad boulevards. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that honouring one's mother is a matter of paradise, and naming so many newly built mosques after mothers across the Caucasus gives living weight to that noble hadith.

Architecturally the building follows a confident contemporary Caucasian style inspired by classical Ottoman models. A large central dome supported by half domes, four tall slender minarets, walls of pale carved sandstone, tall stained glass windows, and wide marble courtyards welcome worshippers. Inside, large chandeliers hang from a painted dome, soft Persian carpets woven in shades of red and green cover the floor, and Thuluth calligraphy in gold encircles the main prayer hall citing verses on divine mercy and the honour of the ahl al bayt.

Accurate daily prayer timings for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the Aymani Kadyrova Mosque appear on this page, along with the Argun address, a map pin, and hospitable notes for any visitor arriving from Grozny, Gudermes, or the mountain villages of the Argun gorge. During Ramadan the congregation hosts shared iftars of zhizhig galnash dumplings, khingalsh flatbreads, warm pumpkin pies, and sweet tea brewed slowly over the stove, and Eid mornings fill the courtyard with children in embroidered papaha hats. Any traveller journeying across the Caucasus between the Caspian Sea and the Georgian Military Road is warmly welcomed to step within these soaring walls, to kneel upon the patterned carpets among the tall, dignified Chechen congregation, and to whisper a soft salam upon every mountain mother whose quiet prayers over a cradle of woven wool once carried the faith across valleys of snow, of rain, and of mist to the very shining thresholds of a river city called Argun.
