Tero Mosque in Addis Ababa serves the Muslim residents of the Ethiopian capital, a city whose Islamic heritage reaches back across centuries and intertwines with the broader story of Islam in the Horn of Africa. During Ramadan the masjid becomes especially active, with nightly taraweeh, shared iftars, Qur'an completion events and charitable outreach to needy families. Visitors from other backgrounds are welcomed respectfully at appointed times, and donations toward upkeep, teaching work and charitable outreach are quietly encouraged by the local volunteers who sustain the mosque's ongoing service.
