Tentang

ICCA — the Islamic Centre for Community Affairs in Accra — is a Muslim institution in the Ghanaian capital that combines the role of a mosque with broader community services aimed at strengthening the Muslim presence in Ghana's social and civic life. Centres of this kind typically extend beyond prayer and basic religious education to include programmes in youth development, family counselling, interfaith dialogue, advocacy for Muslim concerns in public policy, charitable relief and outreach to vulnerable members of the wider community. The mosque component of ICCA offers the five daily prayers in congregation and a strong Friday gathering, with a clean prayer hall oriented toward Makkah, a clear mihrab, a simple minbar and adequate provision for men and women worshippers. Friday khutbahs are delivered in a blend of Arabic, English, Hausa and other local Ghanaian languages, reflecting the diversity of the congregation and the centre's ambition to serve a wide cross-section of the ummah. Sermons often address themes connected to Ghanaian Muslim public life — good citizenship, honesty in work and politics, the upbringing of children in the faith, the support of the vulnerable, and the responsibility of Muslims to contribute positively to the common good. The centre supports religious education for children and adults, including Qur'an and Arabic classes, adult halaqat on aqeedah, fiqh, seerah and contemporary issues, and occasional public lectures open to the broader community. During Ramadan ICCA organises iftars, taraweeh prayers, Qur'an completion events and substantial charitable distributions to needy families. Visitors from other backgrounds are welcomed respectfully at appointed times, and donations toward upkeep, programming, teaching materials and charitable outreach are quietly encouraged as an investment in the long-term contribution of the Muslim community to Ghanaian society. ICCA's engagement with wider Ghanaian public life includes periodic statements on civic matters that affect Muslim communities — from education policy to burial arrangements — and while the centre carefully avoids partisan political involvement, its willingness to speak respectfully in public spaces has given it a steady voice in national conversations.
