Tentang

Al Rahman Mosque in Accra takes its name from one of the most beloved attributes of Allah — Al-Rahman, the Most Merciful — a name that stands alongside Allah itself as a primary reference to the divine in the Qur'an, and whose depth of meaning runs through virtually every surah. By taking Al-Rahman as its name, the mosque quietly places mercy at the centre of its identity, asking Allah's mercy upon its worshippers and inviting them, in turn, to be instruments of mercy in their own families and community. The masjid serves the surrounding Ghanaian capital with the five daily prayers in congregation and a strong Friday gathering. The building is a well-maintained community mosque, with a clean prayer hall oriented toward Makkah, a clear mihrab, a simple minbar, ample provision for men and women worshippers, and a reliable ablution facility. Friday khutbahs are typically delivered in a blend of Arabic, English and local Ghanaian languages, reflecting the diversity of the congregation, and often return to the theme of mercy — divine mercy inviting repentance, human mercy in family life, mercy toward neighbours and employees, and mercy even in dealing with those with whom one disagrees. The mosque supports religious education for children through Qur'an and Arabic classes and hosts occasional adult halaqat on aqeedah, fiqh and seerah. During Ramadan the masjid becomes a centre of local spiritual life, with nightly taraweeh, shared iftars for needy families, Qur'an completion events and charitable outreach. Eid prayers draw crowds in festive clothing. Visitors from other backgrounds are welcomed respectfully at appointed times, and donations toward upkeep, teaching work and charitable outreach are quietly encouraged, as small contributions to a mosque that asks nothing less than divine mercy for every worshipper who steps inside. The imam of Al Rahman Mosque often cites the well-known hadith that Allah has one hundred parts of mercy, of which only one has been sent to the world to share between all creation, using this image to urge his congregation to extend that single portion generously to the people and creatures around them.
